BIO

LaVarn Gordon hales from Portsmouth, VA, and currently resides in Charles Town, WV. He has served in some ministry capacity, including leading music ministries in praise and worship and choir music, working in media ministry, leadership training, teaching, and preaching since the age of 13. In addition, he founded the young adult choir Sound Of Worship (SOW), which served the community of the Eastern Panhandle and the Shenandoah Valley for three and a half years. LaVarn has served as Music of Minister for Zion Baptist Church in Berryville, VA, from May 2004 to May 2017. Most recently, he served as Worship Pastor at Destination Church in Kearneysville, WV, where he led the music ministry from May 2017 to July 2021.

 

LaVarn is also a singer/songwriter who has worked on several projects. You can currently find music on all streaming platforms with works including "Songs from His Presence," "Unshaken," and the Christmas album "Great Joy." These were all collaborations with friend and producer Vernon Hill. His most recent collaboration was with artist Travis Dupri on the song "Lil Faith," which can also be found on all platforms.

 

God has begun to birth a new vision in his heart that is carrying him into his current season. On February 15, 2022, he started the River Talks Bible Study, which is geared toward creating dialogue through the word of God to speak to those searching for answers.

 

On January 15, 2023, LaVarn officially announced plans to start The River Life Church, a new church plant. He is challenged to present a space for the River of God to flow and allow the people to dive in and get what they need. LaVarn's heart is using his gifts to minister to souls to bring encouragement and the hope of Jesus Christ wherever possible. It's only the beginning of what God has in store.
